Most people who end up in massage therapy will tell you they were always drawn to wellness. My route was different. I live with optic atrophy - a genetic condition that affects both my short and long-range vision. It's shaped every career decision I've made. And for a long time, I let it define what I thought I couldn't do. Eventually I stopped looking at it that way. What I found instead was that my hands could do what my eyes sometimes can't. Massage therapy wasn't a fallback - it turned out to be the best fit I could've landed on. It sits right at the intersection of physical skill, genuine care, and the kind of focus you develop when you've had to work harder to get places.
I started Beyond Massage Therapy because I wanted to do this properly. Not as a chain, not as a spa add-on - as a dedicated, personalised practice where you're actually being listened to. Every session is built around what your body needs that day. I use only eco-friendly, vegan and organic products.

Cupping Massage
Cupping massage is a therapeutic treatment that uses suction cups to create negative pressure on the skin. Cups will be gently glided over soft muscle tissue or placed statically to release fascial restrictions and target chronic tension. This treatment is often combined with deep tissue and manual massage techniques to improve mobility, reduce pain, promote deep relaxation, and support muscle recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What should I expect during my first massage appointment?
Your first visit begins with a short consultation about your health, lifestyle, and treatment goals. Your therapist will then tailor the massage to your needs and comfort level.
-
Which massage is best for stress and anxiety?
Relaxation massage and Swedish massage are ideal for reducing stress, calming the nervous system, and helping you unwind.
-
Which massage is best for back pain?
Deep tissue massage and Sport massage are popular choices for back tension, muscular pain, and stiffness.
-
Can I have a massage with an injury?
Yes, but it depends on the type and stage of the injury. Massage can often support recovery, but we avoid working directly on acute injuries. Always let your therapist know so treatment can be safely adapted.
-
How often should I get a massage?
For general wellbeing, once a month is usually enough. For stress, tight muscles, or pain, every 1–2 weeks may be more effective. Active clients or athletes may benefit from weekly treatments during training or recovery periods.
-
What should I wear for a massage?
Wear comfortable clothing. Depending on the treatment, your therapist will explain what is appropriate and ensure you are properly covered with towels throughout the session.
-
Which massage is right for me?
The best massage depends on your needs. A relaxation massage is ideal for anxiety and stress relief, deep tissue helps with tight muscles and chronic tension, and sports massage supports recovery and injury prevention. If you’re unsure, please give us a call.
-
Can I get a massage if I’m sick?
It’s best to avoid massage if you have a fever, flu, cold, or any contagious illness. Massage can sometimes worsen symptoms and slow recovery by placing additional strain on the body. For your wellbeing and out of respect for your therapist and other clients please wait until you're fully recovered to book an appointment.
-
Is Cupping Massage safe?
Yes, cupping is generally safe when performed by a trained therapist. It may leave temporary marks on the skin, which usually fade within a few days. It may not be suitable for everyone, so your therapist will assess you beforehand.
